GET ME HIRED KRISTI! OKAY I GOT YOU!
Dear Future Hires,
Idk why I think I'm superwoman & can do it all.
“If I don’t do it, who will?” is the mindset that often burns me out.
And if you’ve been laid off more than once, then you understand exactly why that mindset forms. Corporate America hasn’t always been safe enough for us to trust one paycheck. So we build backups. And backups for the backups. A safety net. A side hustle. There’s always A brand deal. A coffee chat. A networking meeting squeezed in between two presentations and a late night resume review.
It’s like I can’t say no because… what if JUST WHAT IF this opportunity is the breakthrough I’ve been waiting on?
What if this connection changes everything?
What if resting means missing the moment I’ve been praying for?

But here’s the truth I had to sit with this week:
Overworking is not the same as being prepared.
Exhaustion is not the same as excellence.
And burnout is not a badge of honor.
Some of us are tired because we’re carrying fear disguised as ambition.
Some of us are tired because we’re trying to outwork instability.
Some of us are tired because we don’t feel safe enough to rest.
But you deserve rest.
You deserve peace.
You deserve a life that doesn’t require you to run on fumes to feel secure.
So here’s your reminder… and mines too because I’m talking to myself:
You are allowed to pause without losing momentum.
You are allowed to rest without losing opportunities.
You are allowed to breathe without falling behind.
The right opportunities won’t disappear because you took a nap.
The right people won’t forget you because you logged off.
The right doors won’t close because you chose your health.
This week, I hope you choose you.
Not the hustle.
Not the fear.
Not the pressure to prove your worth through productivity.
Just YOU, the human behind the resume, the brand, the LinkedIn posts, the grind.
Take a break before your body forces one.
Take a breath before your mind shuts down.
Take a moment before the moment takes you out.
You’re building a future, not running from a past.
And you deserve to arrive there as the whole person you are💕
Speaking of being tired, I’ll be doing another level up your career workshop for Shell’s Black ERG organization. I promise I’m going to sleep after this! But I prayed about being able to help other across industries identify their transferable skills. So when duties call… I gotta go! Want me to do a workshop for your company or organization? 💬 Get Me Hired Kristi Q&A:
Job Seeker Question: How do I make my résumé actually stand out so recruiters stop scrolling past me?
Answer: Most people think a standout résumé means adding more words, more bullets, more responsibilities… but that’s exactly how you blend in. A standout résumé is one that tells a clear, confident story about your impact, not your tasks.
Here’s what I tell every job seeker I coach:
1. Lead with results, not responsibilities.
Recruiters don’t want to read what you were supposed to do. They want to see what you actually did. Numbers, outcomes, improvements, that’s what gets attention.
2. Match your résumé to the job, not your entire career.
If your résumé is trying to be everything for everyone, it’s speaking to no one. Tailoring is the cheat code.
3. Use tools that make the process easier, not heavier.
This is why I always recommend Teal’s AI Resume Builder. It shows you exactly which keywords you’re missing, helps you rewrite bullets with measurable impact, and keeps everything organized so you’re not drowning in versions.
4. Stop guessing what recruiters want, let data tell you.
Teal’s Matching Mode literally breaks down the job description and tells you what to fix. No more guessing. No more hoping. Just clarity.
If you’re tired of applying into the void, start by upgrading the story your résumé is telling. When your résumé finally reflects your real value, the interviews follow.
