What is really going on in this job market???
The way we go about getting jobs has changed since 2021. I know I would have so many recruiters in my inbox, at least 10 a week, asking me to leave my job and come work for their company. Ask me how many recruiter messages I get now? 00000
The truth is companies are slimming down. They are no longer hiring multiple people for 1 type of role. It’s one and done now and typically it’s giving to the very senior candidate that wasn’t offered as much money as they are worth.
How do we combat this? A very tailored and targeted search. You can’t just apply with the same resume for each job anymore. We have to make sure our titles match and we are highlighting the same keywords in that are in the job description in our resumes. You must follow up each application you apply to with a message to a recruiter. If you cannot find they exact recruiter, reach out to a recruiter at the company and ask for direction. Here’s an example:
Hi Sarah!
My name is Kristi Kennebrew and I am the bridge that connects job seekers to their dream jobs! I recently applied for the Senior Talent Sourcer at XYX company and would love to get my application over to the hiring manager for this role. My sourcing experience from Google, Microsoft, Salesforce and Cisco has allowed me to connect with technical talent quickly, reducing time to fill and saving the company money and resources. Would you be willing to pass my resume along or point me in the right direction to the correct recruiter? Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
I know, it’s A LOT of extra work but we have to make some adjustments if we are going to survive in this market! One last tip from me before I close out… apply for the job as soon as you see it posted! You may have noticed but jobs do not stay up for long. If you need to pull over and apply, pull over and apply! I once thought I could wait till I get home to apply for a job that I was 100% qualified for, once I got home, it was CLOSED 😫 Never again will I let that happen to me and I don't want it to happen to you either! You got this and we will get through this job search together!
